Nigeria files terrorism charges against three suspects in Oyo school kidnapping case
Three men face terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement and illegal-mining charges over the Oriire school kidnapping case.

The Nigerian government has filed a 10-count charge against three men accused of involvement in the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Orire, Oyo State, southwest Nigeria.
The suspects, Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa, and Shamsu Adamu Sani, are from Suleja Local Government Area in Niger State. The charges, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, include terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement, and illegal mining.
Prosecutors allege that the men conspired with others between January and May 2026 to abduct the schoolchildren and teachers. They are also accused of concealing information about the masterminds and being members of Darul Salam, an affiliate of the proscribed terrorist group Ansaru.
Additionally, Umar faces separate charges for providing terrorist training, inciting violence through a WhatsApp group, and engaging in unlawful gold mining.
The suspects are expected to appear in court next week following the conclusion of investigations.
