The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has opened applications for the second edition of its Startup Awards, offering a total of $65,000 in cash prizes to innovative startups across the region, including Nigeria. Applications opened on August 3, 2026, and will close on August 31, 2026.
The programme seeks to support innovation and digital entrepreneurship across six sectors: EdTech, FinTech, HealthTech, AgriTech, CleanTech, and Tourism and TravelTech. Selected startups will take part in virtual masterclasses from September 21–25, followed by a physical event in Abuja from September 28–30. Beyond the cash prizes, participants will gain access to investors, networking opportunities, mentorship, acceleration programmes, and digital tools.
To qualify, Nigerian applicants must be ECOWAS citizens with a startup registered and based in an ECOWAS member state, operating for at least two years, with a functional product or service and evidence of market traction or scalability. Interested applicants can submit their applications through the official ECOWAS Startup Awards portal before the deadline.
