#RevolutionNow organisers list demands for nationwide protest

Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore , has called on Nigerians to participate in a nationwide #RevolutionNow protest scheduled for August 5. The demonstration, tagged the "Festival of the Oppressed," is expected to begin simultaneously at 8:00 a.m. in major cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Benin City, and Ibadan.
Organisers are demanding an end to insecurity, the release of political detainees, the repeal of the Cybercrime Act, the implementation of a ₦500,000 national minimum wage, and the restoration of fuel subsidy. They also called for the withdrawal of criminal charges against Sowore, greater accountability from public officials, an end to xenophobia, and respect for Nigeria's territorial integrity.
The planned protest comes nearly a year after the #EndBadGovernance demonstrations, which were fuelled by concerns over rising living costs, insecurity, and economic hardship. Organisers say the latest protest is aimed at sustaining calls for improved governance, accountability, and the protection of citizens' rights.
