Team Nigeria has concluded an impressive campaign at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, finishing as Africa's highest-ranked nation and seventh overall on the medals table. The team secured a total of 24 medals comprising 10 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze, reaffirming Nigeria's status as one of the Commonwealth's top sporting nations.
Several athletes delivered historic performances during the Games, with Samuel Ogazi becoming the first Nigerian man to win Commonwealth gold in the 400 metres, while Chukwuebuka Enekwechi claimed the country's first-ever men's shot put title. Nigeria also recorded medal-winning performances in athletics, boxing, weightlifting, and para sports, including a successful title defence by Folashade Oluwafemiayo in para powerlifting.
The National Sports Commission commended the athletes, coaches, and officials for their outstanding performances, describing the campaign as one of Nigeria's finest at the Commonwealth Games. The achievement is expected to provide momentum as Team Nigeria begins preparations for upcoming international competitions, including the African Games, World Championships, and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
