Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have begun their European campaign with another trophy after defeating Aston Villa 2–1 in Salzburg to become only the third club to win the UEFA Super Cup in consecutive years.
PSG took the lead through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Aston Villa responded through 17-year-old Brian Madjo, who became the youngest scorer in Super Cup history. The equaliser gave Villa renewed confidence, but Désiré Doué eventually settled the contest with a decisive second-half strike to secure victory for the Champions League holders.
The triumph extends PSG's impressive run under Luis Enrique and adds another piece of European silverware to the club's growing collection. For Villa, the defeat came despite a spirited performance that underlined their strength following their Europa League triumph. The final was also notable for Somali referee Omar Artan, who took charge after his controversial exclusion from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
