Nigeria's Samuel Ogazi has set his sights on becoming one of the greatest athletes in history after claiming his first senior international title at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. The 20-year-old stormed to victory in the men's 400 metres, clocking 44.25 seconds to become the first Nigerian man to win the event at the Commonwealth Games.
Ogazi finished comfortably ahead of defending champion Jereem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago, while Zakithi Nene of South Africa claimed bronze. Reflecting on his triumph, the world number one said he arrived in Glasgow fully prepared despite the pressure of expectations, adding that his long-term ambition is to win Olympic and World Championship gold medals.
The victory marks another milestone in Ogazi's impressive rise, following his appearance in the Olympic final in Paris and a series of national and continental record-breaking performances.
